Is Beneful canned food good? What quality wet food should I mix?

Cesars and Beneful are more medium grade diets. Dogs love the taste but it's not necessarily the highest quality proteins and there's lot of fillers. The Royal Canin is a very high quality and the food I recommend to mainly feed Azumi. I recommend to feed mainly dry food but you can add in some canned food for a treat or even in every meal if you like. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Foods made by Purina are good, but ones like ProPlan have higher quality ingredients than say Alpo or Beneful. In my opinion, Purina is the best of the supermarket brands, so getting a food made by Purina whether it be Purina One or Beneful is fine. I hope this helps!

Yes, it is absolutely fine to feed your cats a mix of two foods! Purina ProPlan is a high quality diet and wheat gluten is not a cause for concern. If you decide to mix the two foods together, try to be consistent by always mixing them rather than switching back and forth. Sudden diet changes back and forth can cause vomiting and diarrhea in some cats.

Hi Ashlyn, Thanks for posting. Caesar is not the greatest quality dog food in the world I have to admit. You are correct. Caesars does not contain a lot of whole ingredients and is very processed. The wet food is also not the best for the teeth. Pure Vita or Orijen would be much better options, yes. And I agree, it doesn't make any sense to mix in a top shelf food like Orijen with a low quality food like Caesar. It would be like having a filet mignon alongside a McDonalds hamburger. It's fine to mix together wet food and dry food for Buddy. Each brand of food has a different daily recommended allotment, so read the instructions on his food to know how much to feed him. Best of luck.

There are good options in each of those categories. Moist or canned does not necessarily mean high fat, nor does it necessarily mean their teeth will suffer (although you will need to be more conscious of brushing teeth or giving dental chews if they are on a canned diet). Dogs with any predisposition to urinary issues or kidney disease are actually better off on canned or high moisture food, as it increases their water intake (because of the water in the food). You can also feed a mixture of canned and dry. I recommend a high quality commercial pet food such as Science Diet or Nutro.
