How to make balanced homemade dog food as a topper for kibble?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 11 months and 16 days old | 74 lbs

Looking for advice on starting homemade dog food. Like how to check ratios and what to use. I'm not looking to feed just homemade but as a topper to dry kibble

Hi there! I highly recommend the website www.balanceit.com if you want to start a homemade (or partially homemade) diet for Otis. It was designed by a veterinary nutritionist, and will help you formulate a balanced diet for your pet that takes into account his age, body condition, any medical issues he might have, etc. It will also recommend any appropriate additives or supplements, if needed.
