When will my 5-month-old Akita puppy's ears stand up fully?

Pet's info: Dog | Akita | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 30 days old

Good morning, I have got Japanese Akita Inu red/white coat at age of 5 month , he weights 23 kg and is very thick boned puppy. All health issues are in norms but we have problem with ears. At his age they are not erect at all , but whenever he gets active or starts chewing bones or his toys ears slightly go up and at this age he is still teething. Wanted to ask how long it will take his ears to go fully up and if there are some extra supplements that I should give him for helping a bit.

No extra supplement has been proven to help unfortunately with ears. It can be completely normal that ears are not erect at this stage but unfortunately they can take up to one year of age to fully grow as a normal purebreed Akita. (just a matter of being patient).

Typically, if a GSD's ears have not stood up by 6-8 months it is likely that they will not stand up at all. There are however, some taping methods that can assist the ears to stand up. You should talk to your veterinarian before taping the ears because it may make your puppies prone to developing ear infections. The amount of cartilage in a puppy's ears is determined at birth. Oral or injectable supplements will not affect the amount of cartilage in the ears.

As much as you can keep the other dog from chewing on her ears, do so, but it's not the end of the world. Their ears will go up and down as they're teething and growing, so they may tip up and down for a couple months more until they stand for good. My 9-month Frenchie's ears are flopping. Is it nutrition? What helps?

This is likely just her. You could look up ways to tape up her ears to help them stand up but it may or may not work. Sometimes with a little more time they will eventually stand up completely but may not. This is not likely due to her nutrition. I would just make sure she is on a high quality puppy food until she is 1 year old. I hope this helps!

Why is my 4-month Akita puppy stumbling and struggling to stand?

Yoko should be examined by the veterinarian. She could have a developmental bone abnormality or a spinal condition. Infections in the nervous system and certain types of parasites can also cause these clinical signs. The doctor will get a better idea from the exam and may recommend some testing.
