Is air freshener harmful to my dog? What signs should I watch for?

I would be concerned that she jumped because she fractured a tooth or injured herself on the can. She may have just been startled. A small amount of air freshener is likely to be bitter and may cause besides and vomiting. I recommend keeping a close eye on Marley. She should be seen by a vet if you think she is painful in the mouth (hypersalivating, guarding, etc) or is vomiting or lethargic. I hope this helps and that all is well with Marley!

If toy do not believe there was anything in the box then I would monitor Casper for now. If you notice any symptoms such as lethargy, inappetance, vomiting or diarrhea, I would get him in to be examined by a veterinarian for further testing. It's really hard to say as each individual pet is going to have different susceptibility to the item, and how much you use the diffuser/what oils are placed in it can also affected this. That said, it is always best to err on the side of caution. If you need to use your diffuser at night, keeping Nugget in a different room while you do, or making sure the room is well-ventilated can help. If you notice any signs of an issue such as Nugget coughing or wheezing, running nose, changes in behavior, lethargy, confusion, etc, it is best to move her to a well-ventilated room ASAP. A visit to your vet, especially if you notice any longer lasting changes, is also a good idea to make sure there is no issue.

Hello, and thank you for your question. It is difficult to tell whether Bentley ingested a toxic amount of the deodorant since it was a spray. Aerosols can contain hydrocarbons which are volatile compounds that can cause stomach upset. If you think she ingested a large amount of the spray, I would take her to the vet now just in case. Otherwise, I would monitor her for any vomiting or diarrhea. If this happens, I would contact your vet at that point. If mild diarrhea is seen, you can try fasting her for about 12 hours, then start offering small frequent meals of a bland diet such as boiled chicken and rice.
