My aging dog is skittish and hitting head. Is it vision problems?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 11 years old | 60 lbs

My 11 yo yellow has rather suddenly become skittish when entering or leaving a room or garage. His eyes do have a blue hat gray glow and he seems to hit his head more frequently now. What should I be looking for here?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These could be signs that his vision may be affected perhaps by cataracts, or any other eye disease occurring in an older dog. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian to see if that seems to be issue. Good luck and have a good night!
