I adopted a 7 year old JRT from a shelter 3 weeks ago. I had her for two days and she came down with canine influenza. She was very sick and I had to take her to the vet everyday for 7 days for IV fluids. She did not eat, drink or have a bowel movement for ten days. She is much better now. Eating and drinking on her own. she is well trained but does not play, aggressive toward cat, pees outside but poops inside. Is her age or past training that she does not know how to play. Will she hurt the ca

I would be very catious with Maggie around the cat. Depending on how aggressive she is to cats she could very much injure or kill the cat.
As far are house training and playing that takes time. With an older dog it can take months before they are fully comfortable in a new home. At that point she may become more playful or her personality may just not be a playful dog.
But be very cautious with Maggie around the cat and keep separated if not being watched.
