Can I add water to Royal Canin puppy food for my GSD to chew?

At 3months he should be able for dry food, if necessary to get him started you may wet with one cup of warm water. If wetted, it must be removed after 20mibs before it starts to ferment as his can cause diarrhea. I would not recommend adding milk as this alters the carefully balanced minerals in the diet and can also cause stomach upsets

You might consider soaking the dog food to make it softer/easier to eat since he is still young. Mixing a small amount of rice or cooked chicken breast or lean ground beef may entice him we just don't want him to fill up on those alone. I am not familiar with the Canine Creek food, be sure it is appropriate for puppies or switch to the Royal Canin puppy food as this is a reliable/trustworthy brand.

Wet food can stick to the teeth more which can cause dental disease or may worsen current dental disease so you may want to stick to just the hard kibble unless your veterinarian has recommended extra water be added to his diet due to a medical condition (such as kidney disease for example).

Cute puppy. At 6 weeks of age this puppy should really already be on canned/dry puppy food. Most pets at this age can no longer properly digest milk replacement formula. I would go ahead and make that transition now over the next 1 week. Top food recommendations are: Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina or Eukanuba. Water requirements for dogs is around 1 ml/kg daily. Free access to water (in a bowl) usually ensures the pet drinks enough water. No, it's a good way to increase fluid intake. Try not to change foods too often It can lead to gastrointestinal upset and may make him even more finicky. Stick with one diet. If he gets "bored", keep feeding it. He will eat when he gets hungry. Be firm. Consider a more strict feeding schedule since some dogs thrive on routine.

Teething can be painful for puppies, so I would try softening his dry food with warm water, or you can add gently warmed low sodium beef or chicken broth to the dry food to make it softer for him to eat. There are also chew toys you can get for Kiba from the pet store that can be frozen in the freezer, which will help soothe his mouth.

Unfortunately I can not make a recommendation about food amounts until I know how much she weighs and if she is underweight or ideal weight. You an repost with this information if you like. I do actually recommend doing the Royal Canin “Puppy” until she is about 8-10 months old- then you can switch her to the “Junior”. In general, the guidelines on the back of the bag are a good place to start but If she seems too thin or too fat, you can adjust up or down. Most German Shepherd puppies of this age are eating 3-6 cups daily but it depends on her size and how fast she is growing and if she needs to gain weight. A last note. Even if you cannot afford Royal Canin all the time, she needs to be on some kind of puppy food as much as possible. Chicken and rice ok for short term or occasional use but is MUCH too low in calcium for a puppy.
