My 4-week-old puppy threw up and is shaking. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 1 day old | 9 lbs

My dog had a litter of puppies and they are now 4 weeks old one of them threw up at 5 am this morning after words he was a bit shaken and slept longer than normal. He is back to himself by playing and being active but he does still shake a little when he goes to sleep. I was wonder what this could be and how I could help him?

I'm sorry little Maximus isn't doing well! It could be that he overfed leading him to vomit, and I would keep an eye on him for now. If he starts vomiting again, starts eating less, and/or become very lethargic, I would take him into a vet immediately. Make sure he stays warm, well hydrated, and eats.

He he continues to vomit and/or seems lethargic when awake then I would be concerned and he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He could have an infection or parasite and your vet can run some lab-work to help diagnose. If he seems normal while awake and he doesn't vomit again then he may have just had an upset stomach from something he ate.

It sounds as theyt is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. I would recommend taking them to the vet the first chance you get, they will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection they will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

The treatment you are doing at home is not working so I would be very worried that he has a major problem. You cannot leave him sick like this. Continuous vomiting, whether he wants to eat or not, is not normal and neither are head tremors. He needs to be seen by a vet.

My dog threw up after playing. Why is he suddenly not himself?

I'm sorry to hear Max is feeling so ill. If this was sudden and he is still acting very ill, it would be best to seek veterinary care ASAP from your vet or an ER clinic. It is possible there is something that made him ill, something he ate that got him sick, or there is an underlying condition or issue that is causing illness or exercise intolerance which should be checked out. If he has returned to normal, keeping an eye on him and bringing him into your vet if he has another episode is best.

My puppy is vomiting, not eating, sleepy, and shaking head. Is it serious?

Just like humans, pets can vomit for many many reasons. It can be something more minor like a bacterial infection or it could be something potentially fatal like parvovirus (if your puppy is not properly vaccinated) or an intestinal blockage. I recommend to play it safe and have Princeton examined by the veterinarian tonight. Puppies who don't eat may run the risk of having low blood sugar or dehydration. It's always best to play it safe. My puppy threw up, is lethargic, and not vaccinated. Should I worry?

Poor puppy. That looks like digested food that he vomited up. He may have eaten something that he shouldn't have. Therefore I would try to fast him for 12 hours and then offer him small amounts of boiled chicken and plain rice. If he is still vomiting, lethargic, or has lack of appetite and diarrhea, then I would be concerned he may have either intestinal parasites or has contracted the deadly parvovirus. It is best to have him seen by your local veterinarian if he is not getting better. Hopefully he just got into something he shouldn't have and will show improvement within the next 12 to 24 hours. Why is my dog vomiting, not eating, watery eyes, and low energy?

It is not normal for a young dog to not be eating and vomit. I recommend making an appointment with Maxx's vet for a physical exam and maybe check his stool for parasites. He may need some medications and fluids to prevent dehydration. Kisses for Maxx, I hope he feels better soon!

My dog is shaking, throwing up, and lethargic. What should I do?

Hi shaking can be a vague sign, of having a temperature or being in pain, or something more specific like having eaten mouldy food for example. I would try to offer Bruce some light diet, and monitor over the next few hours. Hope this helps.
