Is whole milk safe for my elderly cat? Will it upset her stomach?

Don't worry! You haven't messed up her GI system :-) Likely, a little won't hurt every now and then, but because it normally does cause GI upset, it's best to avoid it completely. It's ok, no need to get upset. You are doing the right thing by not giving it to her anymore. I bet if you give her a little white meat chicken (no bones) as an occasional treat instead, Negra will be quite the happy kitty :)

It is not harmful at all but can cause occasional diarrhoea and gastrointestinal upset. I would recommend NOT to give it as it is not beneficial and does not add anything special if diet is already balanced and complete. Almond milk isn’t toxic, and a small amount would be okay occasionally. Some cats have sensitive stomachs and anything outside of their normal food can cause diarrhea. I also wouldn’t recommend giving any milk with sugar or other sweeteners.

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Actually most adult cats and dogs are lactose intolerant. In some cats milk or dairy products can cause vomit or diarrhea. But others tolerate it. My opinion is if Jhumru doesn't get sick from milk then there is no reason to stop, but watch for any signs of an upset stomach. The problem with chocolate milk is that it contains both chocolate and milk. Chocolate is toxic to cats, and milk causes GI upset because cats are lactose intolerant. Cali likely will be ok if she drank a very small amount, but you could see some vomiting and/or diarrhea. If you do see that, I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet.

They are not toxic but does the potential to upset her stomach. The only signs you are likely to see are vomiting or diarrhea because it may be too rich for her and cats can become lactose intolerant as they age.
