Stray kitten has worms. How to identify and prevent spread in my home?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 22 days old | 8 lbs

I'm taking in a stray cat and her two kittens. Looking them over today it looked like one of the kittens may have worms. Can this spread in my house? Is there way to know what type of worms they are?

You could have a faecal sample examined by the vet to know for sure. The worms will definitely spread between cats and some can transfer to humans. I would get all the cats wormed and repeat regularly. You should be fine if you are careful to wash your hands after contact.
