Stray kitten has gooey eye discharge and eyes are shut. What do I do?

I found a stray kitten and it’s eyes are shut closed it has like a gooey looking subastance on its eyes I’m worried for it help me please

Your kitty likely is suffering from an upper respiratory infection and should be seen by a vet for an exam and deworming. It will likely need prescription antibiotics. In the meantime (until you can take her to a vet) you can tak a cloth with warm water an soak the eyes. This should help with opening them. You can then gently wipe off the purulent discharge.

It sounds like Spicy's eyes are being sealed shut from an infection, most commonly upper respiratory or eye infections can cause this. Keeping her eating and drinking and using a warm washcloth to remove any debris and allow the eyes to open is best. It would be smart to get her to a vet ASAP for an exam and medication to treat any infection, especially if the discharge is yellow or green or she has a fever/other symptoms of illness, however if you can't afford it, bringing her to a rescue or local shelter that can care for her ASAP is best.

The yellow discharge may indicate infection which would need to be confirmed and treated by your veterinarian. You can get some KMR or similar kitten milk replace to feed the kitten. Some kitten food mix with the KMR to make a gruel or slurry can also be offered. If you plan on keeping the kitten, discuss deworming and a vaccine protocol with your veterinarian. Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites and consider having the kitten tested for FeLV (feline leukemia) and FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus).

This kitten should be examined by a vet. He has an upper respiratory infection - may be viral, like herpes, or bacterial. The vet will prescribe some antibiotics and some topicals for the eye. This is not something you can fix at home.

Hi. First I would recommend a full exam and medications for them as they have severe upper respiratory infections. In meantime, yes, I would place a warm wash clothes over the eyes for 5-10 min and then gently try to clean and open.

My kitten has brown discharge and can't open one eye. What's wrong?

I can see excessive discharge in the right eye and the eye is not as open as the left one. These signs indicate something abnormal and as always with eyes I would recommend to have the eye examined by a vet. The vet will examine the different parts of the eye and make sure no foreign material present as well as stain the eye to evaluate the cornea. Why is my 9-week-old kitten sneezing with clear eye discharge?

This is probably an upper respiratory infection. it's very common in young cats and is very contagious to other cats as well. It is treated with antibiotic eye drops/ointment and oral antibiotics for about 2 weeks. if left untreated many cats will end up blind or even die from the disease. I advise going to your vet asap to start the treatment right away.
