How to help a stray cat with red eyes, irritated anus, and thin?

I would recommend that you have Kitty checked out by a vet. She may be thin just from poor nutrition, but other possible causes include intestinal parasites internal medical illness, or infection. The goopy discharge around her eyes indicates inflammation, and could be from an upper respiratory infection, eye infection, damage to the cornea, dehydration, among several other things. Use a warm wet washcloth to gently remove the discharge and help her keep it clean. A strong urine odor could be from poor living conditions, urinating on herself from UTI or bladder stones, other urinary issue, or from being scared and urinating on herself. You can bathe her with a pet shampoo to remove the odor. Until you can get Kitty to the vet for examination, keep a close eye on her appetite and urinary and bowel movements.

The diarrhea could be perhaps due to parasites. It appears as though Wraith may have a respiratory infection and the thin body condition could be due to failure for her to thrive from the infection. She may also have intestinal parasites that could be causing the poor weight gain. I would definitely consider bringing her inside and keeping her in there out of the cold weather, especially considering she is so young and thin. If you are concerned about cost at a vet clinic, there are plenty of rescues you could reach out to to see if either they have any medications to donate or if they could take her from you so that she can get the most appropriate veterinary care. The only other option you have is to make sure she is eating enough and can even add kitten formula with the food and wait for her immune system to fight off the respiratory infection. However, there may be more going on. If you cannot afford to take her to a vet clinic, then my recommendation would be to give her up to a rescue so that she can receive the care that she needs. This is so sad. This cat needs a vet in order to even find out what could be causing his skin disorder and shaking so that we know what she needs to hopefully recover. The skin has to be tested to determine which so that we know how to move forward. Also the cat should have baseline bloodwork done to check for any possible deficiencies or low glucose that could explain the random shaking. It likely has an eye infection if one of the eyes is closed, so that should be treated with prescription eye ointment or drops from your vet as well. Since the cat is eating well, then there is no need to change its diet, unless of course she feels thin, then you should try feeding her kitten food to help bulk her up and provide her with more calories. It is hard to tell if she is thin based on the photos provided. Weight loss and diarrhea are concerning for either a gut disease (allergies, dietary indiscretion, toxin, IBD, etc.), or other severe systemic disease (kidney disease, liver disease, etc), however systemic disease sounds less likely. She likely has eaten something that has upset her stomach. I would recommend getting her to a vet when you first can, and in the mean-time I would get her a high quality canned cat food. You want one that is low in fat and high in fibre. The canned food is better to help keep Bibi hydrated. If Bibi won't eat, you can try syringe feeding her. The watery eyes can be signs of a virus or infection, hard to tell without seeing her, however I would address her weight loss and diarrhea first. You can try boiling rice and feeding tuna with rice as well. Best of luck with Bibi, I hope she feels better soon!

It's always tough trying to deal with feral cats. The best option would be to take her to the vet (maybe they could spay her at the same time? Not all vets would be able to do that, but might be worth asking). The vet could sedate her, check out her eye, and vaccinate her for rabies at least. There is a risk of her biting, but we usually can take appropriate precautions to avoid this. If you do take her in, ask your vet ahead of time what preferences they have for type of carrier etc so that they have the best chance of successfully looking at her. It will probably end up costing you a decent amount of money to take her in, because of the extra time +/- sedation that will be required (plus costs for testing, vaccines, medications), so just be aware of that ahead of time. That said, to answer your question about care at home - she could have a viral eye infection (very very common in cats), or it could have gotten worse and become a bacterial infection or an ulcer. She could have issues with the pressure in her eye or have a congenital problem. All we really know is that her eye hurts for some reason. All you can really do at home is keep the eye clean with a warm wash cloth and maybe put some lubricating drops in (GenTeal severe is best for this, it's an OTC human eye drop). You can also give her L-lysine treats which will help fight off a viral infection. That won't be enough if she has a bacterial infection, an ulcer, or really any issue other than a mild viral infection. Eye issues can get bad fast she risks losing sight or the eye itself, so definitely consider going the vet route if at all possible. I hope she's feeling better soon! Good luck!

It's difficult to know what this is without seeing it. This could be a bad case of conjunctivitis, an infection within the eye, or a problem with the skin surrounding the eye. Either way, this sounds very severe and it's important that Kitty be seen by a vet soon. If you can get her into carrier and take her to a vet, that would be best. Sometimes, you have to catch them in a trap (non-harmful) in order to get them to a vet. If you have trouble doing this, or are unable to take her to a vet, then I recommend calling the local shelter and asking for assistance.
