My dog and cat fight feral cats and kittens. How can I stop it?

Yes you can take them into the vet to have them neutered if they don’t have owners. That would be lovely of you! It will cut down on fighting, but keeping them indoors all the time. will prevent any fighting. Best of luck.

Unfortunately if you are planning on keeping him indoor / outdoor, it is very difficult to keep him away from other stray cats. I would recommend ensuring his vaccinations (Feline Leukemia, Rabies and FVRCP) are all up to date to prevent transmission of these diseases. There are motion activated sprinklers you can get that will startle cats and keep them away from your property and you can find these online quite easily. Really, keeping him indoors is the only 100% way to keep him away from stray cats. I hope this helps! Neutering will help him from running off and fighting. It will unlikely stop him from fighting to protect where he lives and his food. He should be tested for feline leukemia and aids though as this can be a fatal disease and he may continue to spread it if he keeps fighting. The other cat likely will need to be caught, neutered and released to minimize the behaviour

In my experience the only way to keep cats from fighting each other is to keep them indoors or to supervise all outdoor activity. This is likely territorial aggression but there is no way to explain to him that this other cat isn't a threat, and if you're not with him at all times when he's outside you can't intervene when he attacks the other cat. You could try training Khan to wear a harness and take him on walks - this definitely requires dedication and some cats will not tolerate a harness and leash.

The best thing you can do to help this family of cats would be to have your parents contact a local animal control officer, who can rescue these cats and bring them to a shelter so they can get any necessary treatment (deworming, flea treatment, and appropriate food), and be put up for adoption. These cats, especially as strays, are likely not vaccinated and can be dangerous to handle, and can spread diseases amongst themselves but also to humans. I hope this is helpful! Hello, Oliver is likely just curious and wants to explore outside like normal kittens. I would make sure that all access to the outdoors is closed until you have tested Oliver of FeLV/FIV and have fully vaccinated him. He will always be at risk of contracting FeLV and FIV from stray cats, however, you may be able to prevent other disease if you vaccinate him fully. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Have the stray examined and treated by your veterinarian. Once he has recovered from his wounds, have him vaccinated and dewormed. Keep them separated during this time. Allow them to hear and smell one another through a closed door. Once they have acclimated to the sounds and smell of a new cat, allow them to see each other at a distance for ever increasing periods of time. Progress to placing the new cat in a closed carrier in the room with your cat until she acclimates. The use of pheromone products, such as Feliway spray or plug in diffuser, may decrease any anxiety or aggression.
