Sphynx kitten's skin irritated after bath. What's the best treatment?

It looks as though she may be dealing with skin mites or a severe skin infection. If her URI signs have not resolved, I would consider nebulization therapy with antibiotics along with Orbifloxacin. For the skin, I would discuss administering a product called Revolution for cats to help out with the possible skin mites. I would also recommend using a shampoo such as Douxo PS Chlorhexidine combination shampoo which can be found online and bathe twice weekly until resolved. I am unsure if the below products will be available in India but you can probably find something comparable, especially if you contact a veterinarian in your area to see what products are available that are similar. 1. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Cricket. He appears to have been treated for ringworm, a bacterial infection and mites based in the medications you have listed. Has he been tested for any of these conditions? Typically a fungal culture, impression smears and skin scrapes are performed. This will direct treatment. A food allergy should also be considered and he may require a prescription diet trial. A hydrolyzed diet is a one where the protein source is chopped into tiny pieces so that the body's immune system will not recognize it and therefore not react. This would be my next recommendation. Fleas and allergies to fleas can set-up an environment for infection. It's possible that this is complicating the recovery process. The skin will often start to heal once the fleas are gone, but it's worth treating for infection by giving a bath with a medicated cat shampoo (can get this at the pet store). I recommend discontinuing the use of dawn, because this can be very irritating to the skin and actually delay healing or make the problem worse. Dawn will also not completely get rid of the fleas. In general, only products labeled for cats should be used, because their skin pH is different than peoples. It's best to just give a bath with the medicated shampoo once every 2-3 days, until the skin starts to look normal. It's expected that it will take a month or more until the kittens start to look normal again, so stick with it and they should get through this fine. Treating for fleas is not just restricted to the host, because fleas can reproduce and nest in the environment and continually cause an issue. What a handsome boy! There's a few things you may try. To absolutely make sure fleas are not the cause (remember, if you have a pet who is sensitive, tit only takes 1 flea to cause a reaction), talk with your veterinarian about using an oral flea prevention called Comfortis. Try this for 2-3 months and see if it helps. Kahlua looks a little heavy, sometimes this can prevent them from being able to clean the lower back/around the tail. Weight loss will allow him to adequately clean that area and in the mean time, shampooing the area every 4-5 days or using a dry shampoo and a brush every 3-4 days will help to decrease the oil production and decrease itchiness. Continue using a fish oil though I prefer an omega 3 fatty acids supplement. Changing the food to Royal Canin may also help improve the skin quality. Allergies can also cause itchiness but I recommend to rule out the fleas first. I hope this helps.
