Why is my spayed cat spraying and marking? Is it a health problem?

This spraying could be related to a medical problem such as a UTI or bladder stones. I would have them both seen by a vet, as that is the only way to know which one of them sprayed and if there is a medical cause behind it. Having them seen by a vet tomorrow is best. That must be so frustrating for you! I recommend taking her into your vet if you haven't already to rule out a medical cause behind this behavior. Cats with a UTI will urinate everywhere, and she will need antibiotics to treat it if she does have one. Once a medical cause is ruled out, I would recommend spaying her. Female cats will mark to attract a male, and spaying her will help decrease this behavior. Even if it is a UTI causing this, I would still recommend spaying her. She may continue to mark to attract a male, and spaying will have many health benefits for her, including prevention of a pyometra ( a life threatening infection of the uterus) in addition to decreasing the marking behavior.

If you haven't seen your vet for this problem I would recommend making an appointment for Gizmo to rule out a medical problem. She could have a urinary tract infection or cystitis and checking a urine sample would be a good idea. If a medical problem has been completely ruled out then it's possible that this is a behavioral issue. It is not as common for female cats to urine mark but Gizmo will still have hormones for several weeks following the spay surgery so it could be a bit longer before you would see improvement if she is acting territorial.

Yes, a UTI is always a possibility when a cat suddenly displays inappropriate urination. I would have Norah seen by a vet tomorrow for a physical exam, blood test, and urinalysis. These tests will help diagnose if she does have a UTI, and should she have one, the vet can prescribe medication to treat her. Hi. It could be possible that Stink has a urinary tract infection. If she is urinating.outside the box as well, that could be a sign of a urimary tract infection or stress as well. I recommend contacting your veterinarian to schedule an exam and a urinalysis as well to start. It will provide alot of information and help.guide us to the probable diagnosis.
