Why is my spayed cat showing heat signs? Can she still get pregnant?

It can be difficult to know if they've been spayed or not if you don't have any medical records. You can request that the vet shave her belly to look for a spay scar, but they can be very faint if she was spayed at a very young age. If she still has signs of heat, then either she hasn't been spayed or there is some ovarian tissue still present inside her. You can have a hormone test (AMH) done to confirm that there still is ovarian tissue and then you know she needs surgery to remove it. Or the vet can just go to surgery to go look for it.

Cats are unique creatures and they can have extra ovarian tissue that can be missed during a spay. It sounds as though Knox is exhibiting signs of a false pregnancy. Since she was spayed last month, it is not possible for her to actually become pregnant. Rarely, a portion of ovarian tissue (referred to as ovarian remnant syndrome) can remain after a spay, which then produces hormones and can cause signs of heat and possible pregnancy. I do recommend taking Knox to her vet for an exam and to consider blood hormone levels to determine if ovarian remnant syndrome is suspected. Yes, this will be due to the ovary left behind. Because this ovary is still there, it's releases hormones and causing Kitty to have symptoms of heat. Yes, surgery is recommended to find that ovary and remove it.

Unfortunately, if your female cat has an ovarian remnant, there is nothing you can do in your house, short of keeping the male and female separated, that would prevent him trying to mount her. the exploratory surgery would be needed to find the remnants and have them removed in order for her to no longer experience heat cycles.

My first thought is quite honestly that calico cats have a reputation for being chatty or vocal, and she may just be developing part of her personality at her age. The next thought is that she could have an uncommon condition that is causing her to go into heat despite her spay.
