My cat was shaved. Is her shaking a sign she's feeling cold?

Yes, it's fine to keep Bella in an air-conditioned room. You may want to leave out a blanket she can curl up in just in case she gets cold. You can also considered getting her a cat sweater to wear to keep her warm. I have a Persian cat as well, and I have to shave him because of his mats. I have a sweater for him to wear after that for a few weeks until his fur is a bit longer so that he doesn't get cold. Check a local pet store or the internet for sweaters for cats. I actually use a toy breed sized dog sweater, which fits my cat perfectly. I hope this helps :-)

Given that C is allowed outside, it could be that the lack of fur on her back will affect her in the cold weather. She could become colder easier, so I would either keep her indoors until her fur grows back in (which unfortunately can take months), or you can get her a sweater or coat to help keep her warm.

There is research from Australia that determined that most cats are constantly cold and only start feeling very comfy when the temperature is around 30-38C. Your cat probably does not need a shave at all. It may be a good idea to comb her every day to get rid of all the loose hair. Your cat is hot if she starts to pant and deliberately looks for cool places to lie and spend her time. If that is the case, you can shave the hair off her belly, which will cool her down significantly. Your kitty is beautiful!

Shaking or trembling in your cat could indicate pain or discomfort. If the shaking is severe I would be worried about seizure like activity. I would recommend taking KitKat in to see your vet as something serious may be going on. Hopefully your vet can pinpoint the problem, with a physical exam and possibly blood work, and help to stop the shaking.

With your description, I would be concerned about a respiratory problem, hypothermia or systemic infection. The outdoor temperature is cold right now so if he was exposed to very cold temperatures for a prolonged period of time, he may be hypothermic. Unfortunately there's no way to know for sure. Is she showing any other symptoms? Is she still eating, is she moving around normally or does she seem painful, is she vomiting, having diarrhea, or having any coughing or sneezing? Shivering can occur due to being cold, or nauseous, or painful. All of these are possible causes. Make sure she's protected from cold and wind, and if she's not improving and you know she is not cold, take her to your vet for an exam. Trembling is a general sign and can be seen with several things that go from just being cold or nervous to being an indication of pain or discomfort. If Emmy is otherwise fine, then it would be ok to monitor her for now. However, if at any point she appears to be in discomfort or stops eating or showing any other concerning symptoms, it may be best to have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment.
