Is my senior cat's mouth chewing and cracking noise a dental issue?

Without examining her and performing dental x-rays, I can't conclude the precise cause of her pain. At this point, the best course of action is to take Lucy to her vet for an exam. If it's a slower movement more like normal chewing, he may have something stuck in his mouth that he's trying to dislodge, or could have a tooth issue that is causing discomfort and giving him a sensation that there's something that doesn't belong in there. If he's acting otherwise completely normal with a normal appetite, you can watch him for a few more days, but if the behavior continues, (and certainly if you see anything else alarming), then I'd have a vet take a look in case there's something that should be addressed. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chanel. She appears to have advanced periodontal disease. Her teeth have both tartar on them as well as a very inflamed gumline. She will need to see her veterinarian to be anesthetized for a dental cleaning. There is most likely an infection in her mouth that is painful to her. Hello. Some cats can have pretty severe dental disease & this can result in a very painful mouth. Any veterinarian can examine Moto for the degree of tartar & plaque on the teeth, & the presence of gum disease called periodontitis. Some cats can also develop very severe lesions on the gums & tissues at the back of the throat. This we call stomatitis. Moto might benefit from a professional cleaning, the use of antibiotics, the judicial use of steroids & even the removal of some teeth. Yes, there could be an issue with her teeth or jaw. I suggest you get her to your vet for an exam. If you could take a video with your phone of the behavior she is exhibiting that would be good. That way you can show the vet what she is doing since she may not do it during the exam.

Hi. Toothless is a cutie. If he is having halitosis (bad breath) and you can see a broken doscolored tooth he should see a vet. There is a good chance he may need a dental COHAT (comprehensive oral health assessment and treatment) which will include extraction of broken or diseases teeth. The odor you are noticing is likely due to infection. If you've ever had a tooth ache, you know Toothless is hurting! He will feel so much better once his teeth are treated. You shouldn't be too worried, from my experience it's rare that a cat this age would need a full dental work as such at this age, it the tooth does not seem to be decaying and if he has no trouble eating, i would leave it as it is for the time being.
