My senior cat has brown spots, rash, and brown urine. What's going on?

Hello, sorry to hear about Mystique. This could be early evidence of a urinary tract infection which may require medications. Female cats are more likely to get urinary tract infections and can show signs such as urinating outside of the litter box, drinking excessive water, urinating more frequently, having a decreased appetite, or even vomiting and having diarrhea. I would have Mystique evaluated by a veterinarian if these abnormal urinations continue or if she develops any of the other symptoms described above. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I recommend that you check and make sure that she is drinking enough water. Sometimes using several water bowls throughout the house is helpful. Another way to stimulate her to eat canned food which is high in water content. Good luck!

I have not heard of the Royal Canin hepatic food causing a discoloration of the urine. I suggest you take some photos of the brown urine to show your vet. They will be better able to help you since they have Kissi full medical history and blood test results. If a urinalysis was never performed it would be a good idea to do so.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Daisy! Daisy could have a urinary tract infection, but most animals do not lose weight with that. I recommend that you take her to your Vet first thing tomorrow. They should get blood work to check her kidney, liver and blood sugar and test her urine for infection or crystals. They may want to take a belly X-ray to check for bladder stones. Sometimes the urine can be discolored if they have bilirubin in the urine. Cats that are jaundiced are very sick. Check the whites of her eyes, her ears and that thin area of hair above the eyes. If it looks yellow then she should see a vet today. i wish you the best and a speedy recovery for Daisy

Tiger may have a urinary tract infection or other issue causing dehydration and darker colored urine. I'd recommend having her examined by a veterinarian and also having a urine sample checked out. If necessary she can be given fluids as an injection to rehydrate her and be prescribed antibiotics to treat any infection that may be present. You can try offering her an all canned food diet to try to maintain her hydration. However, I do think she should be examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Thank you for posting your question! Judging from your description, it sounds like Sunshine has been licking her paws causing the hair to change color. The balding spot could be due to several causes. Have you recently changed the type of litter? Due to the feet being one of the main areas she is licking, this could be due to a contact allergy. If she is strictly indoors, I would suspect this to be related to the litter or carpet cleaner in regards to allergies. Another possibility is arthritis. Sunshine is an older cat and as animals age, the joints become arthritic with time. She may be licking her paws and the back of her neck due to arthritis. For both allergies and arthritis, omega-3 fish oil is a great product and Welactin for cats is something that I would recommend. If you would like to try Benadryl first to see if that improves Sunshine's symptoms, you can administer 1/2 tablet of a 25mg Adult Benadryl. If there is no improvement, then I would suggest scheduling an appointment with Sunshine's veterinarian to discuss this further. Yes I would be concerned about Lacey. It's not normal to leave small blood spots where she sits, nor is it normal for her to have blood in feces. The black color of her vagina area is concerning as well, as that could be dried blood. There could be a number of reasons for her symptoms such as a UTI, pyometra, GI ulcers, or GI tumors to name a few. She should see a vet for these problems, and I would take her into one first thing in the morning. Best of luck!
