Why is my senior cat aggressive with a bald spot near her tail?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 11 years old | 20 lbs

My 11 year old cat has been really aggressive when we we barely touch her in some places of her body and she is starting to have a bald spot near her butt. She will scratch and bite if I touch her tail and butt near the bald spot?

This sounds like she has an injury or infection in that area causing the pain and hairloss. I recommend a veterinary exam to see if it’s an infection from a fight wound abscess or perhaps from an infected anal sac. Once they have the diagnosis they can prescribe the appropriate medications.
