My pregnant outdoor cat is missing after birth, is she okay?

She may have eaten the placenta when you were not looking. If she is not feeling well, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. If she is absolutely fine, I would just keep an eye on her for now. She may have passed the placenta when you were sleeping and ate it then. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. What sweet little kittens! Those pictures are so adorable! I would not be too concerned about the mama cat just yet. She is probably exhausted from giving birth and nursing. You may want to move her to a location where you can keep a better eye on her so you can check on her regularly. Place a litter box within easy reach so she doesn’t have to travel far away from her kittens to use the bathroom. Try palpating her abdomen as well. It should be soft and doughy, not firm or hard or painful. If it feels abnormal you should probably take her in to the vet to make sure there are no kittens remaining inside of her. You can also try taking her temperature at home. If it is greater than 103 or less than 99, she needs to be seen by a vet. Finally, continue offering her fresh food and water. Keep in mind she will need a lot of extra calories since she is nursing 6 kittens. Feeding her a kitten food would be best. You can also try feeding her canned food or moistening her food with water to ensure she is getting enough. If your cat still refuses to move after 48-72 hours there may be something wrong and you should take her in to be checked out. I hope this helps. A feral/stray dog may hide to have their puppies if they were close to labor, however if she is completely lost she may also have gotten injured, or the puppies injured if she is out in the wild. It would be best to keep searching for her, and to let local authorities know that she is missing.

Hi ! She could be having troubles giving birth, kittens could have died and be still in her tummy, does she look like she has given birth and her tummy is not distended anymore ? If so she could have more likely hidden the kittens rather than eaten them.

There are several possibilities: She had a miscarriage and the kittens were dead and she cleaned up, ie ate them. Or she had them and hid them. You will know soon, when she disappears once in a while....you may need to follow her secretly to find the babies. third possibilities is that the babies had some defects and she ate them. She will have a discharge for about a week , which should be odorless. If she gets lethargic, stops eating or if the discharge gets smelly she will need to be examined by a vet.

Unfortunately, this is possible. She also may have placed them somewhere outside where the kittens were susceptible to predators. Kittens will not survive long on their own, so depending on how long they may have been without their mother, this situation could be dire. I would spend some time searching the property and the surrounding neighborhood to see if you can find anything that looks like a nesting area. If you can, try and move the kittens back to somewhere that is safe for both them and the mom. Hope this helps.

She may have had the kittens and left them someplace secure while she searches for food. You can continue to feed her for the next 6 weeks or so. You may see the kittens before then. If so, you can choose to take them all in. Leaving her out puts her at risk of harm, but taking her in before her kittens are weaned puts them at risk. It is a difficult situation.
