My Persian kitten has nose slits. Can he live a normal, healthy life?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 10 days old | 3.3 lbs

I have a persian kitten with a cranial deformity. He has nose slits rather than nose holes. Can he still live a "normal" life with this condition? He is a very active kitten, and has normal bathroom and eating habits.

Dooney is so cute! Having a tiny nose could make it harder for him to breathe, especially if it's high temperatures or he has an upper respiratory infection. You could talk to a vet about a cosmetic surgery to make larger openings. This breed of cat commonly has small openings and I usually only see a problem if there is an infection, like a cold. I would keep him from other cats to prevent an infection and monitor for any drainage. Good luck and kisses to Dooney!
