My cat has a snotty nose and struggles to breathe. Is he okay?

Yes, it could be from stress but it could also be Leo is sick. The bad breath could be due to dental disease, and the excessive eye discharge could be due to an eye infection. I'd have him seen by a vet this weekend. I hope this helps!

As long as he is still eating and able to sleep comfortably then i would not be overly concerned. Bathing his nose with saline and cotton wool can help free any mucus and make breathing a little easier. If symptoms worsen or he starts breathing with his mouth open I would seek an emergency appointment

If he continues to eat and drink and his symptoms are resolving, you can try to manage him at home. If he or one of the cats worsen, then you will need to seek veterinary care. In the meantime, keep theirs eyes and noses clean. You can also run a hot shower and allow the steam to build up in the bathroom. Then place a cat in the bathroom to breathe the steam. He may have an upper respiratory infection, which is quite common in cats. It is hard to say for sure without examining him myself. You can try using a humidifier to break up any mucous. As an alternative you can place him in the bathroom with the shower running for 5-10 minutes 2 x daily. However he ultimately will likely need antibiotics to clear up any bacterial infection that may be present. I would also recommend getting him on antiviral medication (I.e. lysine powder or gel from your local pet store or vet clinic) to treat for a suspected underlying viral infection. Pisces could be dealing with a few things. Certainly something like a viral infection, sinus infection, sniffing something up her nose that is stuck in the canal, allergies or less likely, a tumor could all cause her to start sniffing a lot. If she feels warm to you, this could be an indication that she has a fever. I recommend to have Pisces examined by her veterinarian today. If there is evidence of infection, the doctor will give her medication and likely some fluids to try to help her body fight it quickly. If your Persian kitten has a vey short nose his nostrils may be small and not allow good airflow which could effect the sleeping pattern. Also if he has an upper respiratory infection that could be impacting his breathing. I would have his nostrils checked by your veterinarian. There is a surgery that can be done to enlarge the nostril opening. If he has a mild cold the breathing and sleeping better should improve as the nasal discharge resolves.
