My cat has a snotty nose and struggles to breathe. Is he okay?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 years and 1 month old | 6 lbs

My cat sounds like he has a snotty nose .I can see his chest rise when he breathes. Almost like it’s a struggle, but he runs around, eats and goes the bathroom without issues

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Leo. I would recommend that he sees his veterinarian as he may have an upper respiratory tract infection. If this is not the case, then he may be experiencing allergies or even have a diseased tooth. You veterinarian will be able to guide you on if diagnostic tests are necessary or if treatment is needed. I hope this information helps!
