My older cat was near URI kittens. Will he get sick?

A lot of cats can clear the infection on their own. However, if he loses his appetite, becomes lethargic or the symptoms are not resolving, then he will need to see his veterinarian. It may take 7-10 days for the condition to resolve. As long as he is still eating, breathing normal, and has normal energy then continue the medications as directed and monitor his condition. If he has a viral infection then it will need to just run it's course as the antibiotics will only treat a bacterial infection. If he stops eating, becomes lethargic, or has any breathing issues then he should be rechecked by a vet.

Jack's eyes and stool most likely are not related although can be. He may have an upper respiratory infection, conjunctivitis (inflammation in the conjunctiva of the eyes which may be infection vs allergic), Jack can have a corneal ulcer (less likely if it is both eyes that are affected) or even allergies (which are less likely due to age). With all of his symptoms, including a runny nose and sneezing it seems more like an upper respiratory infection. It is a good sign that he is still full of energy. With his stool, it can be stress or intestinal parasites. It can also be that he got into something he wasn't supposed to or even a virus. When you go to the veterinarian I would recommend bringing a stool sample so the veterinarian can make sure there are no intestinal parasites. They may dispense eye medication and medication to help with the diarrhea. Depending on the cause they find it just may be antibiotics for the diarrhea or it may be a dewormer. Your cat should not be infectious at this point although the new kitten may have been exposed to another strain of upper respiratory infection so either cat could develop a mild respiratory infection again. You did the right thing by leaving kitty there becuase upper respiratory infections are highly contagious. However, if your cats are up to date on their FVRCP vaccine, this greatly reduces the chances of them getting ill also. There is a small chance that the virus can survive on fomite objects, but typically it is spread through direct contact or through aerosolized droplets from oral secretions, similar to the flu or common cold. You can change your clothing just to be safe, before coming in contact with your cats and home and just wash your clothing as you normally would, and monitor your cats for any symptoms. However, like I said, there is a low chance of transmission this way. Upper respiratory infections are very common in cats, so once the kitty is free of illness, wait about 10 days before considering adopting him. He also should be up to date on his vaccinations.
