New cat hiding, growling, hissing, and blocking passage. What to do?

Poor Daisy! It sounds like she's quite stressed and upset about the move. Moving to a new home is extremely stressful for some cats - it can take several days or even weeks for them to start to feel comfortable in a new place. I would recommend setting up a separate room for Daisy with her food and water bowls, litter box, scratching post or cat tree, etc. and leaving her alone until she's ready to venture out into the rest of the house. You can also try using a Feliway pheromone diffuser along with a natural calming supplement like Zylkene or Composure daily to see if this helps.

It is a feisty kitty indeed. The best thing is to carry a large towel and if you have to walk past her, courageously do so and if she attacks, throw the towel on her. This should give you enough time to get out of her way. Eventually she may not go after you. But hissing and growling is not dangerous as long as she does not actually attack you. Hissing and growling does work well as intimidation strategy apparently. Be courageous and she probably will move away from you. Talk to her when you feed her, do not try to touch her, She is apparently very upset that her mama (your mother) has left her, if only temporarily.

Best let her settle in. Imagine going to a new place that smells different, has different sounds, without mommy aand the siblings. This is terribly scary. So best let her hide, put food and water in the bedroom where she is. She will likely come out at night to eat and drink and go to the litter box. She will get more courageous every day. If you manage to catch her outside of the hiding place after a few days, you can try to pick her up and hold her quietly and pet her provided she does not panic. But time will help...over time she will feel secure and come to you. Talk to her when you enter the room, Say her name and don't make scary noises. She will get used to you not being someone who wants to eat her.. Time and patience.

So sorry to hear this happened. It is best to ignore her behavior. If you give her any attention you are rewarding an inappropriate behavior. I suggest you leave her be, put some Feliway diffusers in the house (especially in the room she is in) and try to act as normal as possible. I'd put Sophie in her own room with food, water, and litter box. Close the door, and let her stay there overnight. This may help calm her down. Let her out in the morning to see if she is more relaxed. She may just need some time to herself. I hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear that Tippy is having a hard time adjusting. I would recommend a couple of things. I would try to decrease stress as much as possible. That may mean closing the door to the room that Tippy is in during the day to give her a "safe" place to be. You could also add a Feliway Diffuser ( https://www.feliway.com ) to your house. You could also consider calming music specially for cats ( http://throughadogsear.com/tace/through-a-cats-ear-1-music-for-calming/ ). But Tippy may just need more time, so don't rush things. I would leave her food in her "safe" area and just give her time. I know it seems like 6 weeks is a long time, but hopefully some additional calming techniques will help. I would leave her alone for now, allow her to get used to the sights and smells of her new home. When she does come out, praise her and offer her a treat or a toy to play with to show her coming out and interacting is a good thing that will be rewarded.
