My cat-sitting cat is aggressive and hissing. How do I calm her?

If Cutie and his mom are only going to be together for a couple of days you may want to keep them separated to minimize stress. If this isn't possible you should make sure Cutie's mom has a separate food, water and litter area and plenty of places to hide if she wants (cats especially like to escape to higher elevation so you may want to put her bed or food up high). If he continues to try to make friends you should separate them if she's hissing to prevent them from injuring each other. It's not uncommon for cats to act aggressive when they're fearful or stressed, and this change in environment is likely stressful for her. Good luck!

Unfortunately, kittens that were bottle fed can be aggressive and not as friendly. You can try to put some feliway diffusers in the House and spray her sleeping areas. Feliway is a cat pheromone which can sometimes help to calm them. Also, give her more time. She has been moved from multiple house in her short life and now around new cats (they don’t usually remember family). This can be stressful and can take weeks for them to acclimate to. I hope this helps and she starts to get use to her new living conditions.

That's tough! I'd leave her be and ignore her. If you can get her into her room, I would try to do that. Make sure there is food, water, and a litter box in there. Letting her adjust to a small room will help this transition.

Cats are very sensitive to other cats in their territory. Unlike most dogs that will accept another dog into their house relatively easily, for cats it can be a different story. Your cat is upset by the presence of the strange cat in your house. Animals behave that way sometimes for reasons that are unclear, taking their anger out on you. She may smell the foster cat on you. I would definitely keep them separated from each other and give her some time and space to possibly accept the fosters presence. Don't get hurt! I wouldn't force your attention on her for now. Maybe in a few days she'll be easier to approach.

Your cat maybe stressed due to your absence. You can have your sitters pick up some Feliway Spray ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/cat/cat-health-and-wellness/cat-calming-aids/feliway-spray ) at the local Petco. Have them spray it before entering. It could calm Minnie down enough to get in and take care of her. Feliway also makes a diffuser that can be plugged in to provide continuous application of a calming pheromone.
