My cat is scared and hiding after being spooked. What should I do?

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 2 years and 8 months old | 10 lbs

My cat accidentally got spooked somehow by my other cat and before she refused to get out from behind the couch, and then moved to her scratch post which is by the couch, then on the couch and now she’s on the floor but she’s been continuously staring in the same direction. She’s eating and drinking only if I bring it to her. She’s normally a shy girl but this not her norm behavior. What should I do? I gave her E Collidal Silver and Rescue Remedy to help her relax. It’s been like this for 5 hour

I'd put Sophie in her own room with food, water, and litter box. Close the door, and let her stay there overnight. This may help calm her down. Let her out in the morning to see if she is more relaxed. She may just need some time to herself. I hope this helps!

I'm so sorry to hear about Kit Kat! She could be scared, hurt, or anxious. The best thing you can do is just pick her up and sooth her. She might like to perch up high on a shelf or cat tree (but make sure she can walk normally and doesn't seem to be injured). And then just try to let her rest and have quiet as much as possible tonight. If she's still the same in the morning, schedule an appointment with your vet for as soon as possible. When cats get spooked or frightened by something, it often takes them a few days to completely calm down again - so this is not unusual. The best thing to do is leave her alone and give her space. You can try using a Feliway pheromone diffuser and/or a daily calming supplement like Anxitane to help reduce her anxiety, if you want to.

Why is my cat terrified of the bedroom after a new kitten was removed?

It could be that if the kitten went into your bedroom, the scent of the kitten could still be there and Sophie thinks there is a stranger in your room triggering anger. To help her relax, I recommend getting a plug in diffuser called Feliway. It releases hormones that help calm a cat down. See if that helps her, but if she doesn't calm down in a couple of days, have her seen by a vet for a health check. I hope this helps!

From Gati's point of view moving house is a very scary experience. Cats are very sensitive to stress. Let her hide where she wants and I would suggest putting her things in that room so she feels safe. Make it easy for her to access food water and litter in this room. Give her some space and time and she will become more comfortable and gradually explore the house. You can get diffusers for cats that release pheromones they can help.

If this just happened today I would give Hades time. Cats can get very stressed out and it may just take time for Hades to feel more comfortable again. If this happened weeks ago then I would recommend discussing this with your veterinarian to see if they have anxiety medication for Hades to feel much better. My cat is hiding after dog trauma. How can I help her feel safe?

So sorry to hear this happened. It is best to ignore her behavior. If you give her any attention you are rewarding an inappropriate behavior. I suggest you leave her be, put some Feliway diffusers in the house (especially in the room she is in) and try to act as normal as possible. You will cause her more stress if you are constantly checking in on her. I suggest you leave the door open to the room and she can come in/out if and when she pleases. Why is my cat crying and obsessed with small spaces after being stuck?

Hello. This was a very stressful event for autumn, so I would give her another 24 hours to see if she calms down. If she is still obviously agitated, I would recommend a visit to your vet. She may have ingested something while under the floorboards, or there may actually be something going that made her go down the hole in the first place - curiosity aside. Going without food & water for 24 hours should not be a significant event for her. She may just be interested in whatever is down the hole.
