Are Munchkin cats prone to health issues? What's their lifespan?

Because they are a mixed breed, they are less likely to have the hereditary diseases than a purebred. When you breed to Persians together, you are more likely to have those genetic health concerns. I hope this helps.

Absolutely not! This is a normal genetic variation and just causes them to have a short tail. Most cats with bobtails live normal lives as those without. Of course, I cannot guarantee that your cat will be without problems, but it doesn't have to do with the bobtail. She is REALLY cute BTW!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! She could have a congenital issue like dwarfism or be a certain breed like a munchkin. There are genetic endocrine issues like hypothyroidism that can stunt growth but that is exceeding rare. It’s hard to say if it will affect her life span without knowing if her stunted growth is from a medical condition. Next time you take her to the Vet have them look in to it. I wish you the best!

Inbreeding can cause a variety of health issues to the offspring including stunted growth, blindness, and behavioral issues among others. It is uncertain how long Milli will live. Generally inbred animals do not live as long as other non inbreed animals. It is hard to say exactly how long she will live. If she is ill tempered, I would be concerned especially if she bites another animal or person. I would advise getting Milli up to date on her rabies vaccine if she has not already. Sometimes animals that are without a rabies vaccine and have bitten a person or another animal will need to be quarentined for an extended period of time and that can be costly and also jeopardize Milli's health and well being not to mention the person or animals who endured the bite. Sometimes two cats do not always get along just like people. If it has always been that way, it may never change. As long as they can tolerate each other and stay out of each other's way without fights breaking out, there may not be a whole lot that can be done about that. Thank you so much for your kind words! Noushmc should always eat a high quality cat food. She she maintain a healthy weight as heavy cats are prone to a variety of illnesses. I would recommend to have her spayed once she is 6 months of age or older. Spayed females will not get as many health problems as unswayed females. Keep her current on vaccines and out of danger. Indoor cats are generally healthier than outdoor cats. Lastly, dental cleaning by the veterinarian has significant health benefits. Most cats between the ages of 3-7 will start needing the teeth cleaned every year or every other year. I hope this helps! Please reach out if you have any further questions!

Small dogs can live up to 15 years of age, with some dogs living up to 18 or even 20. It truly depends on any underlying health conditions and how they are managed. In general, mixed breed dogs tend to be somewhat less susceptible to hereditary conditions. However, maltese can be predisposed to heart conditions such as valve abnormalities, ocular conditions such as glaucoma, and allergies. Terriers are a very broad category of breeds, but typically have the same predispositions. Please note that just because a dog is predisposed to something, does not mean that it will have the condition at any point in life. Unfortunately there is no way for us to know how long it will be before a pet starts having issues with 1 kidney. Problems may never arise. So you will have to just see how she does.
