My small, inbred cat is aggressive, blind. What's her lifespan & care?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 4 days old | 5 lbs

My cat is 6 months old (gray) named Milli and is smaller than an 1 month old kitten. I'm pretty sure she has dwarfism. How old will she live if her life span is not is long as normal? She loves going outside but I'm afraid something with get her especially because we live in the woods. Should I be worried she's quite vicious? My other full grown and normal sized cat (brown) named Margaret doesn't like her how can I help that? Milli has a bad eye that she's partly blind in she's imbred too.

Inbreeding can cause a variety of health issues to the offspring including stunted growth, blindness, and behavioral issues among others. It is uncertain how long Milli will live. Generally inbred animals do not live as long as other non inbreed animals. It is hard to say exactly how long she will live.

If she is ill tempered, I would be concerned especially if she bites another animal or person. I would advise getting Milli up to date on her rabies vaccine if she has not already. Sometimes animals that are without a rabies vaccine and have bitten a person or another animal will need to be quarentined for an extended period of time and that can be costly and also jeopardize Milli's health and well being not to mention the person or animals who endured the bite.

Sometimes two cats do not always get along just like people. If it has always been that way, it may never change. As long as they can tolerate each other and stay out of each other's way without fights breaking out, there may not be a whole lot that can be done about that.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor baby! He might have been born with small eyes or the eyes got infected and were injured severely and permanently damaged. It also can be genetic or from drugs the mother received while pregnant. I wouldn't breed Mocha if this could be a genetic conditions If the eyes are painful, then they should be addressed when he is older. He may have to have the eyes removed. He likely can not see out of them anyway. If they are not painful then just leave the eyes be. I hope this helps!

How long can a stray kitten live after healing and staying indoors?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think it depends on what the kittens illness was. We know that outdoor cats have a shorter life span that those kept indoors. Outdoor cats are more likely to get hit by cars, attached by other animals or fall ill from contagious diseases. I think the odds are fair that she would live to middle age. I hope this helps!

My kitten has birth defects. What health issues should I watch for?

The first two listed conditions are genetic. Where there is one or two genetic abnormalities, there may be more that have not yet become apparent. It is impossible to predict if she will eventually develop any other conditions. have her examined by your vet to rule out infection in the eyes or obstructed tear ducts.Keep the eyes clean using a warm, moist cloth. Pain medication may be indicated to manage the discomfort associated with the loss of her tail. Daily brushing, using a pet approved toothbrush and tooth paste, may promote periodontal health. Have the vet examine her mouth to diagnose any periodontal issues.

My cat is a year old and very small. Is her stunted growth normal?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! She could have a congenital issue like dwarfism or be a certain breed like a munchkin. There are genetic endocrine issues like hypothyroidism that can stunt growth but that is exceeding rare. It’s hard to say if it will affect her life span without knowing if her stunted growth is from a medical condition. Next time you take her to the Vet have them look in to it. I wish you the best!

Please, take Millie to your local vets for appointment as soon as possible as she will make things worse by continuous biting and scratching.
