Why is my male cat screaming in pain when pooping and picked up?

It sounds as though Lil Man may be struggling to defecate and this may be causing him discomfort. I would recommend adding in Feline Laxatone and see if this helps normalize his bowel movements. With his age, if he hasn't had a veterinarian examine him in a while or have his blood tested, I would strongly recommend that you have this done in case there is something else going on systemically that is causing these symptoms. It sounds like Victor is constipated. This could be caused by a foreign body, not enough fiber in the diet, GI polyps, or impacted anal sacs. Given that he is crying in pain, I would take him into the vet right away. He may need an enema or laxative to help him pass feces, and the vet can diagnose the cause of the constipation.

There are a number of things that could be causing the vomiting such as kidney failure, GI illness, a foreign body, or cancer. Pain when defecating can be caused by arthritis in his back and hips. a foreign body, impacted anal sacs, or cancer. I think he should see a vet as soon as possible for these symptoms given his age. Your cat could be severely constipated and the straining can make him nauseous. For severe constipation, your pet should be seen by a vet. Hard stool building up in the colon stretches it out of shape, and it also causes stretching of the muscles around the anus, causing perianal hernias that trap the collected feces, effectively making a plug. Your pet may need more than one enema and even manual extraction of the feces in order to relieve this episode. To help avoid this in the future, you can add Miralax to the food. Miralax is a very gentle, easy to give treatment for constipation, available over the counter at any pharmacy. The dose of Miralax is 1 tsp per 50 lbs mixed in with food once a day. You can also add a tablespoon of vegetable or olive oil to his food once daily, or add a couple of teaspoons of canned pumpkin (not pie filling) to his food daily.

Poor Star! This could be a sign of pain from his spine, neck, joints, or stomach. I would avoid picking him up for the rest of the evening, and then if he's still painful when you pick him up in the morning I would take him into the vet for a health check. Please do not give him any human pain medications as many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given.

If she is experiencing a lot of pain than she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. She may be just having some constipation issues but a vet could check to make sure she doesn't have a congenital malformation and/or problems with her hips or pelvis. If it is just constipation than you could add a teaspoon of canned pumpkin to her diet to increase the fiber and see if that helps.

He seems to have a big piece of poop stuck. That hurts a lot. Best take him to a vet tonight to remove it and check if there is an injury. You can gently try to put pressure to remove it yourself. put some gelatine or ointment around the inside of the anus to help it move. If you cannot move it fairly easily you will definitely need to take him to a petER tonight.
