Kitten throwing up green, has diarrhea for days. Should I go to vet?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 months and 3 days old | 6 lbs

My stray kitten has been throwing up a green/yellow foamy liquid and has been having the diarrhea which is also green/yellow for about 4 or 5 days. Should I take him to the vet?

Poor kitty. Most definitely Lzzy should be seen by a vet. 4-5 days of both vomiting and diarrhea without medications started to help with this is bound to cause him to become severely dehydrated and malnourished. He also needs a fecal exam and potentially bloodwork to determine what the underlying cause of his iillness is, so that he can receive proper treatment. At the very least the vet can prescribe medication to stop the vomiting and antibiotics +/- probiotics for the diarrhea, after making sure no parasites are in the stool that would also require a dewormer.     I would recomend taking him into the vet. A kitten can become dehydrated quickly from vomiting and diarrhea and since it has been a couple of days it does not appear to be self limiting. He may have parasites, viral or bacterial infection. The vet will likely recomend a feline leukemia test and fecal parasite test to start. I hope he's better soon.

    I would recommend taking your kitten in to the vet to be evaluated since the vomiting and diarrhea was unable to resolve on its own. You may also want to bring a fecal sample to your appointment so they can check for intestinal parasites. Your kitten will probably need a dewormer, some antibiotics and maybe nausea medication to get her feeling better.

Poor Binx! Yes, this is a vet visit when a cat is both vomiting and having diarrhea as well as being very lethargic. I'm concerning he's throwing up water as well, and that can quickly lead to dehydration. Persistent vomiting and diarrhea can be dangerous in kittens, so you have good reason to worry. The biggest concern is that he can quickly get dehydrated, which is life-threatening. In order to keep this from happening, he will need to see a vet, so they can administer fluids. They also may be able to find the cause of the Diarrhea/vomiting and correct that. With kittens, I am mostly concerned about infections. Luckily, most of these are treatable, so getting him to the vet as soon as possible will make a big difference in keeping him from getting dangerously sick. I hope that helps and Theo gets well soon.

This is a medical emergency and he has to see a vet now. Without seeing him in person, I can't say what is causing his symptoms so I can't say what medications he needs. I can say he is quite sick, and this cannot be treated at home. Please take him into a vet immediately.

04/06 is a little far, i would say that it would be a good idea to take her to the vet in the next 24 hours, she is very young, diarrhea combined with vomiting at this age can be life threatening pretty fast.

My kitten has persistent diarrhea. Should I take him to the vet?
Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Because this has been going on for so long, I recommend taking Nuru to a vet for a physical exam and a stool sample test. He could have microscopic parasites that need to be treated. Not all dewormer medications treat all intestinal parasites so it helps to know what he has. If that test is negative, I would recommend an infectious disease test (leukemia/FIV). If all that is normal, the vet can discuss his nutrition. Good luck and kisses to Nuru!

Why are my foster kittens still sick with diarrhea and vomiting?
Poor kittens! If they've been sick for three days with no improvement, and you've already dewormed them with Panacur, I would definitely recommend a vet visit at this point. They may have something more serious such as feline leukemia or panleukopenia, which your veterinarian can test for. At the very least, it sounds like they will need fluids and medication to control the vomiting and diarrhea since it isn't resolving on its own.
