Why is my 4-week kitten twitching, moaning, and having accidents?

Hello. I am a little concerned about your kitten because at 4 weeks of age she should be a little fireball & not require stimulation to move her bowels. She should also be eating a canned kitten food with a little replacement milk mixed in. If she has not been dewormed, this would be a priority as intestinal parasites like roundworms can make a kitten pretty weak. She may also be a little dehydrated if you have not seen her urinate. Poor baby! I am worried that she is having diarrhea and an increased urgency to go or severe constipation. Since she is so uncomfortable and so tiny and young, I would strongly recommend to have her seen by your vet as soon as possible. Your vet will be able to determine the cause and get her started on the proper meds to help her feel better. They will also be able to give her fluids if needed. I'm glad she is acting OK but this is not normal. The color of the discharge indicates and infection and if left untreated can cause major problems. I suggest you get her examined by a vet at your earliest convenience.

Tater is adorable! The signs you are describing can be due to a reaction to a flea/tick preventative or a number of toxins in the environment. It is definitely concerning that Tater is also having diarrhea and loss of appetite/energy as this can be caused by viral and parasitic infections. I recommend having Tater seen by a vet as soon as possible to determine what is going on and begin the appropriate treatment. Your vet will likely recommend a fecal exam and blood work. Hello. Your kitten is showing signs of illness. If he defecated on himself and if limp he could be injured but more likely he's hypoglycemic. Young kittens need to eat every hour or so to keep up with their energy demands. I would recommend having him seen by a vet asap. He need veterinary examination and treatment. If you can get him to eat some kitten milk replacer while you get an appointment set up, that would be good. If he won't eat that try rubbing some honey on his gums to raise his blood sugar. Without an image it would be hard to say what you are seeing. It could be a parasite, bug, etc crawling around. Checking the environment for anything similar may alert you to this, and you can use a flea comb and Dawn dish soap to kill any fleas on kittens that young. If mom is taking care of the kittens, she is likely cleaning/stimulating your kitten to go potty, however 4-5 weeks is around the age they should start showing interest in the litter box and start eating solid food so more stool may appear, and the momma cat may be taking him to a litter box to go potty as well. You can watch to see if this is the case.

That is not normal behavior from a young kitten. Yes it sounds like she has a fever and stomach upset. Since she’s so small and sick she should have veterinary treatment soon so she doesn’t get worse. Healthy kittens are very playful and don’t vomit or sleep that much. Please take her in for treatment. They will give medication to resolve the vomiting and reduce her fever if she has one.
