What to do if a rescued kitten's toe looks like it's falling off?

She could have fractured/broken the leg, dislocated it or even avulsed the brachial plexus (bundle of nerves in the armpit). These are not things you are going to fix at home. I'm sure she is in a lot of pain and getting some pain medication from the vet would be a nice thing to do for her too. Please get her to the vet. It doesn't sound like a simple sprain. You can cold compress it if she will allow you to but that won't take the place of a vet exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

It appears as if she tore her nail. Ideally, she should be examined by your veterinarian. This injury can be quite painful. Piper may need it bandaged or protected until it heals. Antibiotics and pain management may also be indicated. If she is licking at it, place an e-collar (cone) on her until she sees the doctor.

Hi there. It looks like Mae ripped off her nail while she was out and about. There isn't much to do for that other than let the nail grow back. If she'll tolerate it, you can try soaking her feet in warm water with some epsom salts sprinkled in, this can be very soothing. Please have your kitten seen by a vet right away. That wound looks extremely painful and will require pain medication and antibiotics. The kitten will need to have the wound cleaned out by the vet and will likely need sutures/bandaging of the area. Pain medication meant for people can be toxic to kittens and should not be used without checking with your vet. If you cannot keep the kitten and don’t know anyone who will take on his care and vet expenses, please contact local animal shelters and rescue groups so that he can get vet care asap. Waiting until the morning would mean that she is in a lot of pain until then. If you get her seen right now, she can receive appropriate pain medication to help relieve this discomfort. This may be a fractured bone and not having any pain medications until the morning would mean that she is in extreme discomfort until then. Carefully cut off the plastic ring immediately. If he is lucky the circulation was not cut off completely. After cutting off the ring, inspect the area for injuries. If there is no open wound prepare some warm water (warmer than luke warm, but not so hot that it hurts) and dip the foot in it for a minute or two in order to encourage circulation. If you cannot take off the plastic or if you find a wound please take this baby to a vet or Pet ER today.
