Is it normal for a kitten to be so tired after spay surgery?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

My kitten got fixed yesterday. She is very tired and hasn’t moved very much all day. Should I be concerned? The reason I am asking is because my older cat got fixed around the same age and was doing perfectly fine the day after.

It may not be anything to worry about but I do recommend to call your veterinarian and them know. Pets are commonly very tired for about 24 hours and every pet responds differently. It is important to make sure Kipsico is eating and drinking. If she is not, she may need to go back in today for subcutaneous fluids. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
