Why does my kitten have tears and white discharge in her eye?

Eye infections in kittens are usually caused by a virus and is best treated with antibiotics and sometimes antiviral medications and supplements such as Lysine. Sometimes these infections can cause the kitten to rub excessively around the eyes which can cause the area around the eye to become very red and inflamed. Batshiva does really need to see a veterinarian for this so she can get properly treated. Eye infections can lead to lead to more serious conditions or the eye so it is best that she is seen sooner rather than later. I hope this helps and I hope she can see a veterinarian soon!

Any eye problem is considered serious because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. It's possible that Shy does have a scratch on his eye, that can often only be visualized with a fluorescein stain. It could also be that he has an eye infection. I recommend taking him into the vet first thing in the morning. The vet can diagnose what is causing the discharge from his eye, and can prescribe a treatment for it. It could be that Delah is suffering from an eye infection causing this weeping from her eye. I would take her into a vet today to have her eye examined, diagnosed, and treated. For now, keep her separate from the kitten in case the weeping eye is due to a respiratory infection which could be spread to the kitten.
