She is cute! She could have an infection or a parasite. You could take a stool sample to your vet and have it tested for parasites. If she hasn't been dewormed then an intestinal parasite is a definite possibility and your vet can prescribe a dewormer. She might also need some fluids to prevent dehydration. This is very concerning. Your kitten sounds very sick. I think she may have a virus (or possibly a large parasite burden). You should take her to the emergency vet as soon as possible to see what can be done. Before you leave, apply a little honey or syrup around her mouth as she may be weak from having a low blood glucose level. I hope she pulls through.

I’m sorry to hear about your new kitten. Food substances would remain within the inside of the GI tract and would not be found as free liquid in the abdomen. Your veterinarian obtained the fluid by inserting a needle into the abdominal cavity just through the abdominal muscle. They would not have pushed the needle into the intestines or stomach itself where the food slurry would have been. There are many different issues that could be causing her abdomen to swell, ranging from fluid build up to organ enlargement or tumours. Unfortunately there is no way to shed any light on what is causing it without taking her to a vet for a thorough examination. They may need to run some tests also.
