My 2-month-old kitten has a swollen eye and big belly. Is it serious?

She likely has a viral infection that is causing all the discharge. You can use a warm wet washcloth the help her stay clean, and a round of prescription antibiotics and eye ointment may be needed. Her large belly is probably due to intestinal parasites, though there are a few congenital causes that may be at play. I will warn you, that sometimes these kittens will lose an eye from the infection, and will likely have chronic infections over their lives.

This may be the start of an upper respiratory disease. They usually do have a fever and swollen lymph nodes (possibly causing the face to swell) early in the infection, which will make them feel bad. They also tend to avoid eating and drinking early in the infection. It appears that both sides of Blue's face are swollen, but if it happens that only one side is swollen, then this can indicate a local infection/abscess. This can happen with bite wounds, other puncture wounds, or dental disease. I wouldn't be too concerned about this being an emergency, but it's best if you can get Blue to a vet within the next day or two. While these infections are often mild, they can become complicated, which will make things much worse. The vet would be able to narrow-down the cause of this and prescribe the necessary treatment to make him feel better and keep the infection from getting worse. Poor Lucky! There are several causes for a swollen abdomen like parasites and fluid in the abdomen. I would have your vet take a look at him as soon as you can to see what the cause is. If there is fluid in the abdomen, it could be a serious condition that needs to be treated. It could also be FIP which isn't treatable but he needs to be seen to be diagnosed. Hopefully, since he is still eating, he just has some intestinal parasites which your vet can easily treat. I hope this helps and he feels better really soon.

This could be an umbilical hernia, or an infection of the umbilicus (belly button). I'd recommend having this kitten examined by your vet to see if any treatment is needed. If it is a hernia repair might be recommended when the kitten is older.

This is a classic presentation of a cat with an upper respiratory disease and conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis can be caused by a few different infections, but is commonly caused by a virus that most cats harbor and comes out during times of stress. These infections can become complicated with bacterial infections and cause more problems. Nugget's eyes appear rather infected, so I recommend taking her to the vet for an evaluation. They will be able to better inspect the eye and provide the most appropriate treatment. For now, you can flush the eye 3-4 times a day with saline (can get this at the pharmacy) to help clean and soothe it. Poor kitten, glad you found him. Probably need to get him into your local veterinarian as soon as possible to get all this checked out, but in the meantime, you might want to gently clean up those areas around the nose and ears with some warm water and cotton balls. Be sure to wash your hands afterward in case of ringworm. You could gently hot pack the swelling around the eye, again with cotton and warm water, but this is only supportive help until your vet can examine it and recommend appropriate treatment. Nutrition is very important with small amounts of dry or canned kitten food mixed with warm water or kitten milk replacer, available at your vet clinic or feed store. Feed at least 4-6 times daily small amounts. Be sure to monitor the litter box for urine and feces and if none, then may need to wipe the genital areas with warm water and soft cloth to stimulate the process of elimination. Poor baby! He is likely really scared of the new environment and unless you got him from a reputable breeder there is a chance he could be partially feral. Worh time he will likely become more comfortable with you and your other cat but he may never be extremely friendly as that might just be his personality. With his abdomen being swollen, I would definitely have your vet take. Alook st him. Your vet will be able to ensure he is healthy, deworm him if needed and get him up to date on his vaccines.
