My kitten was stepped on, won't eat/walk. What to do until vet opens?

That is very concerning and he needs to be examined by a vet to determine the extent of his injuries and determine the best way to treat. Please call your vet or take him to an emergency clinic so he can be examined right away. He may need an anti-inflammatory and other medications to treat the trauma.

This is an emergency. Your kitten needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. Please do not wait for this to come right without treatment, especially since the weekend looms. Goldy may have just gotten a scare, however it is better to be safe than sorry and have Goldy examined by a vet.

Poor kitty. I’m assuming the leg was splinted already? If not the vet needs to splint the leg so that it is stabilized and has a chance to heal. Also kitty ness to be on oral pain medication in addition to the injection the vet gave him, which usually only lasts for about a day or two. If he is in pain then he will continue to refuse food. Additionally I would check with the vet to see if the the anti internal bleeding injections have a side effect of inappetance. He may need to reduce the dosage or stop it altogether. Consult with your veterinarian on this since legally they are the ones who need to change any prescribed medications for kitty. Ouch! Poor kitten! Please take the kitten to a veterinarian as soon as possible. They are delicate and when stepped on a broken bone or internal trauma can happen. At the very least a veterinarian can prescribe pain medication. Please remember, there are no safe over the counter pain meds for cats or kittens.

Poor kitty! It does sound like he has suffered an injury, and it's quite serious that he isn't going to the bathroom, eating, or drinking. He sounds like he is very painful, and unfortunately he has to see a vet immediately. He will need pain meds, and you cannot give him any human ones. That's because many are toxic to cats, and are fatal if given. In order to treat him correctly, he has to be diagnose by a vet, and there truly isn't anything you can do for him at home. Attempting to self treat him without knowing the cause of his symptoms is never recommended, as you may accidentally do harm to him. I would see if you can find a friend to drive you into a vet now. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. I'm so sorry that's happened to Nawab! If you have absolutely no option to take him to a vet, all you can do at home is try to keep him in a warm, safe area and offer him food and water (hand feeding, but not force feeding) hourly. Unfortunately without medical supplies and diagnostic information (X-rays, bloodwork), there just isn't much that you can do. If he has survived until now, and his breathing is not worse, continue nursing him along; he may pull through. I am so sorry there isn't more that you can do at home.

You can probably wait until the morning to take him in to your regular vet. Just try to keep him calm and comfortable until then the best you can. If he starts crying out in pain for no reason, is vomiting without stopping, or having any bloody vomitus or diarrhea you should take him in tonight. Otherwise he will likely be ok until morning.
