My kitten is sore and won't let me touch him after his vaccine. What to do?

This is very common after vaccines. Let him be alone tonight and let him rest. I would not be concerned unless he starts vomiting, having diarrhea, has hives or a swollen face. If any of these symptoms are noticed that I would contact your vet as this is likely a vaccine reaction. Also make sure he is still eating. He may not eat tonight but his appetite should pick up by tomorrow. If he isn't starting to act more normal in the next day or two, contact your vet for an exam.

I'm so sorry that Noushmc isn't feeling well. Pain at the injection site and mild lethargy are very common with vaccinations and considered normal since the vaccination is stimulating the immune system. It usually lasts 1-2 days and will resolve on its own. If Nouschmc is not eating, is vomiting or it lasts more than 2 days, I would contact your veterinarian. Good luck! It sounds like Coco is having a local vaccine reaction. You should contact your vet and see if they want to examine him or if they would be able to prescribe medications, and if they agree it’s a vaccine reaction they might recommend medication prior to vaccines in the future. I doubt it’s related to the trouble giving the vaccine - it’s pretty common for the needle to slip out when giving injections to wiggly dogs and cats.

You can see a slight fever and some pain after vaccines, but this should pass in 24-48 hours. If Roxzy still have a fever tomorrow morning and/or is in pain, take him back into the vet. Best of luck.

Poor Casper. Some cats can develop fever or soreness after vaccination. If he is very sore, not eating and sleeping excessively it's worth considering a visit to the emergency vet for Casper to be evaluated and medicated to treat a possible vaccine reaction. If he is sleeping more but still getting up to eat and drink and use the litter box it may be a milder reaction that will subside with time. in either case be sure to let his regular vet know so that he can possibly be pre-treated with medication before vaccines from now on. Hope he feels better soon. Do Not Give any OTC pain or fever meds to Casper. Cats cannot metabolize many human medications and they can be fatal.

It can be normal for kittens to be somewhat tired and sore after vaccination, just like human children. Some may run a low-grade fever and not eat well for the first day or so after their shots. What is NOT normal would be any of the following symptoms: repeated vomiting, pale gums, difficulty breathing, or collapse/extreme weakness - these are signs of a serious allergic reaction. This is very rare following vaccination, but if it occurs it can be life-threatening - so if you observe any of these signs, make sure to get your kitten to the vet right away. If she is just tired and sore, it should be fine to monitor her at home - she should be feeling better within the next 24-48 hours.

This sounds like a side effect of the vaccine, it's not super common but i'v seen a few cases already and this usually resolves within 48-72 hours. your vet could give her pain killers for a couple days if her condition seems to be really bad.
