Why is my 7-month-old cat sick and sore after his first shots?

This can be normal. Getting vaccines can cause a cat to feel off for a couple of days. I'd just keep an eye on Baby for now. If you see a lot of vomiting, diarrhea, severe lethargy, facial swelling, hives, or difficulty breathing, that is not normal and she will need to see a vet immediately. Poor Casper. Some cats can develop fever or soreness after vaccination. If he is very sore, not eating and sleeping excessively it's worth considering a visit to the emergency vet for Casper to be evaluated and medicated to treat a possible vaccine reaction. If he is sleeping more but still getting up to eat and drink and use the litter box it may be a milder reaction that will subside with time. in either case be sure to let his regular vet know so that he can possibly be pre-treated with medication before vaccines from now on. Hope he feels better soon. Do Not Give any OTC pain or fever meds to Casper. Cats cannot metabolize many human medications and they can be fatal.

This sounds like a side effect of the vaccine, it's not super common but i'v seen a few cases already and this usually resolves within 48-72 hours. your vet could give her pain killers for a couple days if her condition seems to be really bad.

I'm so sorry that Noushmc isn't feeling well. Pain at the injection site and mild lethargy are very common with vaccinations and considered normal since the vaccination is stimulating the immune system. If the fever persists longer than 12hours, she becomes weak or refuses water for longer than 4hours you should return to your vet. Do not give any human or other medications to such a young kitten but keep her in a cool, well ventilated area with easy access to fresh water and soft food. Most cases resolve uneventfully without additional treatment

It can be normal for kittens to be somewhat tired and sore after vaccination, just like human children. Some may run a low-grade fever and not eat well for the first day or so after their shots. What is NOT normal would be any of the following symptoms: repeated vomiting, pale gums, difficulty breathing, or collapse/extreme weakness - these are signs of a serious allergic reaction. This is very rare following vaccination, but if it occurs it can be life-threatening - so if you observe any of these signs, make sure to get your kitten to the vet right away. If she is just tired and sore, it should be fine to monitor her at home - she should be feeling better within the next 24-48 hours.

This is very common after vaccines. Let him be alone tonight and let him rest. I would not be concerned unless he starts vomiting, having diarrhea, has hives or a swollen face. If any of these symptoms are noticed that I would contact your vet as this is likely a vaccine reaction. Also make sure he is still eating. He may not eat tonight but his appetite should pick up by tomorrow. If he isn't starting to act more normal in the next day or two, contact your vet for an exam.
