My 6-week-old kitten has sneezing/runny eyes. When to stop formula?

Hi, It sounds like possible upper respiratory infection , "cat flu" . I would recommend to be mindful with weeping eyes which can quickly become more severe and may develop corneal ulcer. Also since it has been a week I would suggest to take her to the vet who can offer some supportive treatment to speed up her recovery (such as antibiotic adainst secondary infection , antiviral meds systemic or tropical ocular amd Pain relief ). Keep offering her soft, highly aromatic foods (as you are doing) that are gently warmed will help to tempt an inappetent cat and make sure she is hydrated and drinking. Cat flu is not usually serious in adult cats, although they can be quite ill so help by a vet would be advised at this point.

Poor Cloud! With the sneezing he could have a simple respiratory infection or he could have something more serious like pneumonia or a viral infection. I would recommend to get him to a vet for an exam, diagnostics, and possible medications to help make him feel better. Hi there. It is very rare for cats to truly get influenza, but they can certainly get several types of upper respiratory viruses. You can take him into the bathroom when you shower to get him nice and humidified. You can use nasal saline drops to keep the secretions nice and thin. Hello. I would say you are exactly right, that Simba has an upper respiratory infection, essentially a cold. If he is eating & drinking fairly normally, then you probably do not need to rush him to the vet as colds often just need to run their course. As to why your female seems fine? Well, there is a good possibility she could start sneezing in the next week or so. Again, if the symptoms are mild, you may not need to do anything, but if either kitty quits eating or the ocular nasal discharge becomes thick or green, or you detect any problems breathing, then you will need to have them treated by your veterinarian. If your kitties have not had a full series of kitten vaccinations, which include the most commonly encountered upper respiratory infections a cat can contract, please make sure you complete the series as soon as everyone is feeling better. This is usually treated with antibiotic eye drops and oral antibiotics and cats usually respond well to therapy. I recommend that you have Deimos evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If they agree that based on an examination, that seems to be the issue, they will likely prescribe medications to make him feel better. This is probably an upper respiratory infection. it's very common in young cats and is very contagious to other cats as well. It is treated with antibiotic eye drops/ointment and oral antibiotics for about 2 weeks. if left untreated many cats will end up blind or even die from the disease. I advise going to your vet asap to start the treatment right away.

As long as his energy level is high, he has good appetite and he does not have any breathing difficulties, you should monitor him at home. Uncomplicated cat flu should go away within 7-10 days. However, if Ember becomes lethargic, off food or the discharge from the nose and eyes turns green / yellow you should take him to your local vets for a check.
