Why is my 8-week-old kitten sleeping and not using the litter box?

I would be a little worried that Jinx might be urinating somewhere else in the house! I'd recommend confining her to a small area like a bathroom with the litter box so that you can closely monitor what is happening - pull all rugs up. It is also possible that she is nervous about her new situation and simply hasn't urinated yet. If she is eating and drinking well and you're not seeing her straining to urinate or defecate you could probably give her another 24 hours of very close supervision. If she still does not go I would recommend seeing a veterinarian.

Poor girl. Kitty sounds very ill and may have an infection. You need to take her to your local vet right away if you want to help her at this point. The vet needs to do some bloodwork on her to determine if an infection is present and then prescribe medication to hopefully stabilize her condition quickly. It may take your new kitten time to get used to her new surroundings. Try keeping her in a smaller area, like a bathroom, with her littler box and food/water. Being in closer proximity to them may encourage her to eat and use the box. You may also want to try offering her canned kitten food, as opposed to kibble. This may encourage her to eat more. When she does eventually defecate, if it is outside of the box, place the stool inside the box to help her learn where to go. If these tips are not working and your kitten is still refusing to eat or drink, you may want to consider taking her in to the vet to be checked out. I hope this helps. Hello. I am a little concerned about your kitten because at 4 weeks of age she should be a little fireball & not require stimulation to move her bowels. She should also be eating a canned kitten food with a little replacement milk mixed in. If she has not been dewormed, this would be a priority as intestinal parasites like roundworms can make a kitten pretty weak. She may also be a little dehydrated if you have not seen her urinate. This is a non-specific sign of illness that is often seen in cats - it sounds like Kali isn't feeling well, or may be in pain for some reason. There are many things that could cause this in an 11-year-old cat, including liver or kidney disease, diabetes, arthritis, or even some type of cancer. I would recommend taking Kali to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to - he/she can do blood work or other testing if needed to help determine what's wrong.

This is not normal behavior. Even kittens will not urinate or defecate on themselves. It sounds like she is sick and I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian. The doctor will check her for an infection and also check to make sure her nervous system appears to be formed normally. Make sure to bring in a stool sample for a parasite testing as well.
