It is hard to say exactly what the problem with you cat's eye without examine your cat first. Diagnostics and treatment options as well as prices for those options are all dependent on individual veterinary hospital variation. Some hospitals are more expensive than others. An exam, eye exam, diagnostics may be (ballpark) around $100-$200. Treatment will depend on diagnosis and prognosis and may be $200-$2000.

I hope this has helped. From the picture, both eyes look very swollen. Swelling of the eye in this way is very painful. I hope you can get her into see a veterinarian soon.

I would guess the eye has either ruptured or there is a tumor or abscess behind the eye. I agreed that surgery to remove the eye is likely needed. Cost depends on where you live (ie: things in New York City cost more than things in Louisville, KY). I would expect charges between $800-$2000 but once again, that is high variable depending on your location. I would recommend to have a consultation with a local veterinarian who would be most able to give you an accurate cost. The doctor you originally saw can most likely give you an idea of charges. Unfortunately no, this does have to be treated by a vet. The medication needed is prescription only, and leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would see if you can borrow money from family and friends, go to a low cost clinic, see if you can get a payment plan with the vet, or apply for Care Credit online to afford a bet. Best of luck.

It looks like a very severe eye infection, you must take your kitten to the vet urgently in order to get it treated, he will need antibiotic eye drops. failure to treat it fast will result in blindness in both eyes.

Poor baby! It looks likes she might have a ruptured corneal ulcer so she needs to be examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. It is difficult to determine if the eye can be treated based on just the picture but there is a chance she will not be visual in that eye and enucleation may be the best choice. If she's keeping the eye mostly closed and it's oozing green or yellow discharge, she definitely needs to be seen by a vet - she'll need prescription eye drops to treat the infection. Normally, this shouldn't need to be an expensive visit. Costs will vary depending on where you live and which clinic you go to, but it should just be the exam fee, possibly an eye stain to check for scratches or injuries to the cornea, and then whatever medications the vet prescribes. If cost is a concern, you can call some local clinics in your area to get prices before your visit.

The most common cause of swollen conjunctiva and raised third eye lids are viral infections, most commonly feline herpes. We can only treat the secondary bacterial infections associated with the viral infection. Some cats are chronically affected by herpes, while others have flare ups with stress. Marie should see a Vet to be sure there are no scratches on her eye and to have a safe antibiotic eye ointment prescribed. You can try calling your local SPCA to see if they offer a low cost Veterinary Clinic. I hope this helps and I wish Marie a speedy recovery!

My kitten has a cold. Can it cause eye bleeding and discharge?

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Thank you for sending pictures as well- this is very helpful. The eyes (right eye especially) do look very infected. Eye infections in kittens are usually caused by a virus and is best treated with antibiotics and sometimes antiviral medications and supplements such as Lysine. Sometimes these infections can cause the kitten to rub excessively around the eyes which can cause the area around the eye to become very red and inflamed. Batshiva does really need to see a veterinarian for this so she can get properly treated. Eye infections can lead to lead to more serious conditions or the eye so it is best that she is seen sooner rather than later. I hope this helps and I hope she can see a veterinarian soon!
