Is my kitten's swollen, red, cloudy eye with discharge an infection?

My kittens eye is swollen , red, looks cloudy, and the white longing is very swollen and red, discharge, the red swollen lining covers most of her eye as well

It looks like a very severe eye infection, you must take your kitten to the vet urgently in order to get it treated, he will need antibiotic eye drops. failure to treat it fast will result in blindness in both eyes.

I’m sorry sweet little Buster has this going on. Conjunctivitis in kittens is common, and most often due to feline herpes virus. This can take weeks to resolve. There are medications to help, but just like any virus it has to run its course. That being said I would still encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. In the meantime use a warm water compress to soak the debris away from the eyes several times a day. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.

They have a condition known as conjunctivitis, which is common in young cats. This is usually caused by an infection. It's best to get them veterinary treatment soon, or these infections can get quite severe and they could even lose their eyes. They will need an antibiotic eye medication three times a day for 14 days in order to treat this.

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. I highly recommend that you have Tangie evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!

Hello. This kitten has severe infection in both eyes. This requires IMMEDIATE veterinary attention if there is any chance of salvaging her eyes. She may have poor or no vision no matter what is done, but without medical intervention, it is likely that she will have to lose both eyes. She should be examined immediately and once evaluated, treatment can be started which will probably be a combination of oral and topical antibiotics. She may need to see a veterinary eye specialist if she does not start to improve, or she may need to have the eyes surgically removed. Hopefully, with immediate attention, she can improve. Please take her to your veterinarian or closest emergency clinic right away.

My 7-week-old kitten has eye discharge. Is it serious or an infection?

Any eye problem is considered serious because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. It's possible that Shy does have a scratch on his eye, that can often only be visualized with a fluorescein stain. It could also be that he has an eye infection. I recommend taking him into the vet first thing in the morning. The vet can diagnose what is causing the discharge from his eye, and can prescribe a treatment for it. Is my 9-month-old adopted kitten's eye discharge an infection?

Poor Pete! Squinting and discharge from the eye are common signs of an eye infection. He will need prescription eye drops from your veterinarian to treat this problem, so I would recommend taking him in for an exam as soon as you are able to. In the meantime, you can try gently flushing his eye with plain saline eye wash, and wipe away the drainage with a warm washcloth or cotton ball as often as needed. This will not treat the underlying infection, but may help to make him a bit more comfortable until you are able to see the vet.
