No this is absolutely not recommended, first of all you can overdose her, secondly i generally do not recommend flea baths for cats, they are less effective and tend to cause severe side effects. Hartz isn't a good product either, for next time i would recommend something from the following list: Spot ons: Revoulution Advantage Advantage Multi Frontline Bravecto spot on (ticks as well) - for cats Tablets: Comfortis Collar: Seresto ( (ticks as well) House spary: Indoorex

I would not use it on my own cats. It is a harsh product on cats and I have seen a few clients have an intense reaction to it involving seizures and muscle spasms. I would instead use something like the Seresto collar. Best wishes.

I strongly recommend not using any products from this companies, i have had really bad experience and have heard endless complaints about Hartz flea products. try Advantage instead, it is sold over the counter and is very effective.

A 19 year old cat may have an underlying kidney or liver problem (actually this is very likely) that is making her more sensitive to these medications. If she has not been to the vet recently she should be examined and have some blood testing run. If you continue to try things and her organs are not functioning properly you may really put her over the edge. Luckily she recovered after the Seresto Collar incident. I suggest you: 1. Treat the environment (ie: the house) as the fleas will be constantly hatching and continuing the problem. I strongly recommend Knockout Spray ES. ALL animals in the house much be on some type of flea prevention as well or the fleas will continue to thrive. 3. To treat her specifically, without using the traditional flea medications, you can use this waterless mousse - it is only a temporary fix though. Poor girl. I suspect she is having a mild reaction to the Hartz flea medication. Unfortunately, this particular flea prevention has been shown to have adverse effects in many cats that cause neurological issues stemming anywhere from muscle twitching to full on seizures. I would recommend rinsing the product off as best you can using Dawn dish detergent, followed by a soothing cat friendly conditioner from your local pet store to rehydrate the skin. And then a vet visit is best to get her fully evaluated to make sure she doesn't require any additional treatment (i..e muscle relaxer) or antihistamines. I hope that your fur baby Lucy is able to make a full and speedy recovery and its best to get her on a higher quality flea prevention (i.e Revolution, Cheristin, Advantage is ok) next time to limit adverse reactions in the future. Treating a flea infestation involves treating the pet(s) as well as the environment.
