My kitten's bottom is red and it hurts to poop. What should I do?

My kittens butthole is red and aggravated my sister in-law didn't clean it correctly for two days it hurts him to poop and it's brownish red

I would wash it gently with a mild soap and rinse very well. If you have any a and d ointment or other diaper rash cream available then a very small amount of that applied and rubbed in well is appropriate. If in 12 hours you don’t see improvement then a visit to your veterinarian would be a good idea. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

    Contact your veterinarian for an update or recheck. DO not stop treatment unless directed by your vet. Consider a veterinary probiotic (Bene-Bac, ProViable, ProStora, FortiFlora) to promote gut health. Use a pet wipe or plain unscented baby wipe to keep her bottom clean. An e-collar (cone) can be used if she is licking. Ointment is not recommended in case she licks it off and ingests it.
