Why is my 11-day-old foster kitten having penis discharge and peeing?

Kittens need to eat frequently! What goes in must come out, and on a liquid diet it will be mostly urine. You need to rub and rub and rub the anus with a warm wet washcloth to stimulate defecation. If she has a good appetite and is having normal BMs and is active, she is likely passing urine. It is probably a small amount each time it gets lost in the litter box or is missed with the BM so it is hard to tell the difference. I would confine her and make sure she is not using the bathroom outside of the litter box.

Urine can be almost odorless if it is diluted a great deal, especially at this age. This can also potentially be leakage from his reproductive tract. However if it is indeed urine, leaking of urine is never normal. I would recommend taking him to your vet if this continues to happen. He may have a congenital defect or a weakened urinary sphincter (valve that opens and closes to allow urine to exit the bladder) that is causing this. Hopefully though this is something that he will grow out of, but until then you will have to keep an eye on things and get him examined if needed. Best wishes!

He will stop doing it as he will be able to see and hear properly soon. Urine would be eliminated through gastrointestinal system anyway (so it is unlikely it will cause major toxicity). In few weeks he will definitively grow out of it. Check his weight constantly to monitor weight gain. He likely is peeing a little bit on himself, because he is still young and getting accustomed to his body. I wouldn't be too worried about it. Especially if there is no blood or foul smelling urine. Best wishes with Nugget.

Hi there! Congrats on your kitten! If your kitty is eating soft kitten food on his own, he may be getting enough fluid from his food. I would keep offering water, but I wouldn't be too worried about how much he's taking in as long as he continues to grow and be playful with a good appetite. As long as water is available, he will figure it out. Canned kitten food is more complete and balanced than formula, so if he's eating that then it's a better option than formula. You could encourage a bit more water intake by adding extra water to his canned food and mixing it into a slurry. It wasn't indicated how long you've had him, so I'm not sure if the not pooping is a concern. Cats will generally defecate about 1-2 times daily. Of course, if you feel something isn't right, then it's best to have him checked out by your vet.

At 43 days of age, it's time for Tarcisio to be weaned off milk. Milk won't be enough at this point to meet his nutritional needs, so that may be why he's not gaining weight. To help him wean and to get used to dry food, I would soak a high quality kitten formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with kitten formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry kitten food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until he is eating the dry kitten food only.
