Why is my kitten not standing up and falling over in pain?

Unfortunately, if Lila is having trouble walking or seems in pain, she needs to be seen by a vet. Issues such as neurologic or muscular problems, cerebellar issues, illnesses, disease, nutritional issues, etc are all potential causes which is why a veterinary exam is so important in finding the cause and providing treatment. Keeping Lila calm, quiet, and eating, and limit activity may help until you can afford care. Unfortunately, without a diagnosis it's impossible to say what you need to do to help him - there are many things that can cause a drunken, uncoordinated gait in a kitten this age, and all of these different problems would require different treatments. If the kitten has been to the vet, I would recommend asking him/her what they think is causing the abnormal gait. The kitten may have a birth defect called cerebellar hypoplasia, which is a benign condition that does not require any treatment, or could have a serious neurologic problem such as toxoplasmosis, meningitis, or even a toxicity of some kind (antifreeze, etc.) - these issues are much more serious, and would require prescription medication or even hospitalization to treat appropriately.

Poor kitten! Trouble with defecation and walking usually means there is a problem with the anatomy of the hind end (birth defect), a neurologic problem, or an injury to the nerves and muscles of that area. There are no over-the-counter pain medications that are safe to give a kitten. It is difficult to give advise for comforting him without knowing the cause of the problem. Allow him to be in the position that is most comfortable for him until you can take him to the vet. I hope he feels better soon!

I recommend that you have Kitty reevaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment since things have not improved. Likely diagnostics include radiographs. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least they can prescribe pain control medications to make kitty feel better. Without an exam it would be hard to say what is wrong. If this is something he's had since birth, congenital issues such as cerebellar hypoplasia can sometimes cause symptoms like poor coordination, but the cats are otherwise happy, healthy and enjoy full lives. Other muscular or nerve issues, illnesses, or injuries may also cause coordination problems, so it is always a good idea to rule out any health issues with your vet that may be treatable.

It's definitely not normal. I would recommend that you have the kitten checked out by a vet. There could be something congenital (such as a brain issue) or an infection causing these weird episodes. A complete physical and neurologic exam may shed some light as to the cause, or the vet may recommend bloodwork to get an answer.
