My kitten won't take medicine. Can I use adult wet cat food?

Any wet or semi wet food that he likes such as liver pate, sausages, sardines and just regular wet cat food. With the syrup I would advise giving it to him directly in the mouth as it can affect the taste of the food greatly.

I recommend finishing out his liquid antibiotic via oral syringe if you haven’t already. If he is still eating his dry food, then I wouldn’t worry too much about him avoiding canned food for now. You can try putting a very small amount of canned food in his mouth every few days after to show him that the food no longer has a medicinal taste. With patience and time he may start eating canned food on his own again. If he is not eating at all ( including dry food), then I recommend bringing him in to see your veterinarian as complete inappetance for more than 2 days in cats can lead to a very serious condition called hepatic lipidosis. If he is not eating at all, your vet may do additional diagnostics and/or recommend anti-nausea medications and/or appetite stimulants. Good luck!

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You can try mixing Sushi's antibiotics with a small amount of canned food or plain boiled chicken and trying to feed it to her. There is also a product known as "Pill Pockets" that you can squeeze the antibiotic into. I hope this helps and that all is well with Sushi!

Stubborn old girl! You can try mixing it with a wet food and see if she will eat it; either with canned food or tuna; the stronger taste (as apposed to chicken broth) might help. Otherwise you will have to just have to stick the syringe down the hatch. :( I wish I had a better solution for you! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It should be no problem for Kaya to eat the C/D. In fact, in households with one cat who has urinary problems and another who does not, I often recommend feeding the c/d to everyone anyway since I don't want the urinary cat to eat anyone else's food. (That being said, if urinary cat will stay our of Kaya's food, a kitten food IS more ideal for Kaya for the next couple months at least.) Best wishes to you and your kitties!

It's best to get the medicine in him, especially if it is an antibiotic. If there is something your cat cannot resist, such as cheese, or yogurt, try giving it to him after you give the medicine. That way he will come to associate getting the pill with getting a treat. Yogurt is especially good if your cat is getting an antibiotic as it helps reestablish the gut flora that antibiotics remove. Just make sure the yogurt you give does not have any artificial sweeteners. Plain or vanilla is best. Not eating is a serious matter in cats. They cannot go more than a few days without eating or they risk liver damage. Try enticing your pet to eat with beef or chicken baby food that does not contain onion or garlic power as an ingredient. Onion and garlic causes anemia in dogs and cats. Warm it in the microwave for a few seconds. Stir it with your finger first to make sure there are no hot spots and that it isn't too hot. This makes it more aromatic and appealing to your pet. Wetting dry food or mixing wet food with low sodium chicken broth, also warmed, might entice your pet to eat. Some cats like to be petted while they eat, some want to be left alone. You'll know your cat's habits and be able to act accordingly.

You can grind the tablet to mix. Food will probably disguise it better than water but some cats will smell it and not eat the food then. I would watch the first few times you do it to make sure he eats the food with the medicine in it
