Help! My cat won't take liquid or pill meds for peeing issues.

Stubborn old girl! You can try mixing it with a wet food and see if she will eat it; either with canned food or tuna; the stronger taste (as apposed to chicken broth) might help. Yes, a small amount of adult food to get the medication in would be fine (less than 20% of her daily food). Tablets can sometimes be easier than liquid and your vet may be able to change the prescription

You could try pill pockets, or potentially crush it and mix it with a bite of canned all-meat baby food. If that doesn't work, and you're really struggling to get the medication into him, I recommend reaching out to your vet. We understand that many cats are nearly impossible to get pills into! There are other liver support options, such as milk thistle, that can come in liquid form if you need a "plan B" option. It wouldn't be quite as good as Denamarin, but better than nothing! Hi, what medication are you trying to give to Rajah ? It just sounds like a large volume for a cat. There is no magic trick that you can do to give him oral liquid medications without a syringe or without food. I would suggest that you try mixing it with a strong smelling food such as tuna in water and just give it when Rajah is hungry. They do work by getting absorbed oral so you will lose effectiveness by mixing it in food. You can talk to your vet to see if it can be compounded to be applied topically to the inside of his ear or see about giving an liquid form.

If you can't get Sweetie to take the pill by pilling her or adding it to her food, you can buy a "pill gun" that is like a little syringe that you fill with water, and then hook the pill to the end of. This lets you place the pill in your cat's mouth, and then the squirt of water helps them to swallow it down immediately a little easier with less risk of fighting it or being bitten. If all else fails and Sweetie won't take the medication at all, or it is too dangerous to try and give it to her, I would contact your vet to see if the medication can be compounded into a liquid or different formulation through a pharmacy, or if a different medication that is easier to give can be given instead.

If the anti-diarrhea medication is measured with a syringe, you can give it directly into Monday's mouth - squirt it into his cheek while tilting his nose upwards (so gravity helps direct the medication into the back of his throat to be swallowed). Similarly, probiotics can be mixed in with a little water or broth, then drawn up and given orally via the syringe.
